About

We write about places worth drinking in.

Baroosh is an independent editorial guide to England's bars, pubs, and drinking culture. We cover six towns and cities - Cambridge, Bishops Stortford, Chelmsford, Hertford, Marlow, and Staines - in depth, with honest reviews and no advertising relationships with the venues we write about.

We believe a good pub is one of the most honest buildings a town can have. We visit every place we review, we pay our own way, and we tell you what we actually think.

How we pick

Every venue in our guides has been visited in person at least once, usually more. We rate on five criteria: atmosphere, quality of drink, service, value, and what we call "repeatability" - whether we would actually go back. A place that scores well on all five is rare. That is why our picks are a short list, not a long one.

To suggest a venue or get in touch, use the address below. We read every message, though we cannot reply to all of them.
